'Mal de Débarquement' features 10 tracks created for a collaborative broadcast made in 2020 on LYL Radio for Choses Contraires. With the intention of creating a form of a radio essay, the pieces were constructed from raw recordings, pre-composed elements, patterns, sung, spoken, whispered and hidden voices. However, the trip was long and this tape release marks the end of a period that no longer exists - but also the beginning of a new one.

Elen Huynh is a Paris-based sound artist, producer and DJ. Committed to the power of human speech, she explores the spoken-word in all its forms through radio, performance and collaboration. It led her to provide vocals for artists and release cassette tapes on Choses Contraires. She also has built a composite field in the landscape of ambient and electronic music switching between ethereal textures and twisted rhythms.

Mark Vernon is a Glasgow based sound artist whose practice focuses upon field recording, the manipulation of environmental sounds and acousmatic presence. His work explores ideas of audio archaeology, magnetic memory and the reappropriation of found sounds. He is an award-winning radio producer who co-runs and curates Scottish radio art festival, Radiophrenia.

'Mal de Débarquement' est composé de 10 morceaux extraits d'une pièce diffusée sur LYL en 2020. Partant d'un projet radiophonique, cet album s'est construit d'une seule traite à partir d'enregistrements bruts, de motifs, de voix chantées, parlées, chuchotées, presque dissimulées. Pourtant, le voyage fut long et sa sortie cassette signe la fin d'une période révolue mais surtout, le début d'un nouveau périple.

Elen Huynh est une artiste sonore, productrice et DJ. Attachée à l'importance de la parole, elle explore le spoken-word sous différentes formes à travers la radio, la performance et la collaboration. Avec sa voix, elle en est venue à collaborer avec plusieurs artistes et à sortir des cassettes sur Choses Contraires. Elle a également bâti un terrain composite dans le paysage de l'ambient et de la musique électronique grâce à des sets oscillant entre des textures éthérées et des rythmes toujours distordus.

Mark Vernon est un artiste sonore basé à Glasgow dont la pratique relève du field-recording, de la manipulation des sons environnementaux et de la présence sonore acousmatique. Son travail explore les thèmes de l'archéologie sonore, de la mémoire magnétique et de la ré-appropriation des sons trouvés. Il a remporté plusieurs prix en tant que producteur radio et par ailleurs, co-dirige et programme le festival de radio art Radiophrenia en Écosse.

I love how soundscape artists like MJ and PJM can turn field recordings into magic mirrors to help us see the wonder in our everyday worlds. I have never heard a scaffold singing, but now I want to listen! I hear here, too, how the organic and mechanical can merge into something new and mysterious, even transcendent, in the densest urban environments if we open ourselves to that possibility.
